WYOMING BORN AND RAISED, Larry became interested in history, archaeology and art at an early age.  He knew that creating western historical art was to be his destined goal.  He worked under the tutelage of Adolph Spohr and attended Northwest Wyoming College, majoring in Fine Arts.

INSPIRED BY WESTERN HISTORY and influenced by his friend, the famous artist and illustrator, Nick Eggenhoffer, Larry has been known for his accuracy in clothing, tack, accouterments and firearms in his artwork.  This attention to minute detail and careful research of his topics has contributed to his winning of many awards, including the Wyoming State Historical Fine Arts Award in 1984, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1989 and 1990.  In 1984, while being judged by his peers, he won Best of Show, Gold Medal in Oil and the Artist's Artist Award for his painting "Moonshine" (shown above) at the Western Art Roundup at Winnamucca, Nevada.  In 1986, Larry was invited to display in the Wyoming Governors "Cowboy State International Exposition".

BRONZE SCULPTURE became a new creative discipline for Larry in 1988.  In 1996 he won the Sponsor's Choice Award for his bronze "Brothers of the Gun" at the Douglas Invitational Art Show and is now on permanent display at the State Pioneer Memorial Museum in Douglas, Wyoming.  In 1999 he received The People's Choice Award for his bronze "Stolen Horses - Borrowed Time" at this show.

WILD WEST MAGAZINE has featured Larry's work in several issues since 1989 and on the cover of the June 1999 issue.  Larry was also chosen by the US Repeating Arms and Winchester Arms Collectors to paint the original  for the 1985 and 1987 Winchester Calendars.  He also appears on the cover of several non-fiction western history books.
