Edwin A. Wolverton, had worked as a pumper for Petroleum Industries for many years.
Mr. Wolverton, 88, died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1987 in his home in Ogden, Utah of natural causes.
He was born in Robin, Idaho, a son of Thomas E. and Annie L. Marley Wolverton. He grew up in Robin, Anaconda, Mont., and Lovell, Byron and Lance Creek, Wyo. He married Lou Bell Ames on Feb. 25, 1922, in Lovell, Wyo. They later solemnized their marriage with a ceremony in the Logan Temple in Logan. She died in 1960. On Jan. 11, 1961 he married Leah W. Goodsell in Ogden.
Survivors include a son, Thomas A. of Stevensville, Mont., a daughter, Bennis McKibben, of Ogden; a sister, Ester Hall of Pocatello, Idaho; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1988 in the Lindguist and Sons Colonial Chapel in Ogden. Graveside services were held on Thursday, Jan. 7, 1988 in the Byron Cemetery in Byron. Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell was in charge of burial.

Mrs. Lou Bell Wolverton, 35, Lance Creek, died at a hospital in Lusk Sunday, March 27, following a long illness from cancer. Funeral services were held in Lusk. Wednesday and the body was brought to the Haskell Funeral home Thursday.
A graveside service was held at the Byron cemetery Thursday afternoon, Bishop Walter Stevens conducting.
Mrs. Wolverton, a former Lovell and Byron resident, was born Feb. 14, 1905 in Lovell, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Ames. She is survived by her husband, Edwin A. Wolverton of Lance Creek; a son, Thomas A. Wolverton of Brush, Colo., and a daughter, Mrs. Dennis McKibben of Craig, Colo., and four grandchildren.

Funeral services held for Byron man, James Aaron
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at Easton Funeral Home in Powell for James Edward Aaron, 65, who died of an apparent heart attack Saturday afternoon, May 23 at his home in Byron.
The Rev. Michael Bell of the Church of God of Prophecy officiated at services and burial in the Byron Cemetery.
Mr. Aaron was born Aug. 5, 1926, at Strattonville, Pa., son of Peter S. and Grace E. Aaron. He attended schools in Strattonville and entered the U.S. Army and served in the South Pacific and the Philippines during World War II. He later re-enlisted and served in Korea.
He married Jean E. Cyphert at Clarion, Pa., on Oct. 29, 1954. For a few years. he worked for the Charles Glen Salvage Co. in Corsica, Pa., and then he started work for the L.E.F.C. Railroad in 1955 as a brakeman. He had to retire in 1965 because of disability and moved to Wyoming in 1981.
He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of Powell; one son, William Lieberum of Woodstock, Ill.; three daughters, Mrs. John (Connie) Kliagensmith of Franklin, Pa.; Mrs. Richard (Wilma) Slater of Powell; Mrs. Charles (Lisa) George of Moore, Mont.; and one brother, Carl Aaron of Fairmont City, Pa.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at Easton funeral Home for the mother of a Powell woman.
Jean Elenor Aaron, 72, died Sunday, Sept. 6 at the Powell Hospital. She was the mother of Mrs. Richard (Wilma) Slater of Powell.
She was born June 17, 1920, at Clarion, Pa., the daughter of William and Mabel Cyphert. She attended schools and graduated form high school there.
In 1941, he married Howard Lieberum. He died in 1952.
In 1954, she married James E. Aaron, and they moved to Wyoming in 1980. He died in May 1992.
She enjoyed traveling, fishing and her family.
Survivors iclude three daughters, Mrs. John (Connie) Kliagensmith of Franklin, Pa., Mrs. Richard (Wilma) Slater of Powell, and Mrs. Charles (Lisa) George of Moore, Mont.; one brother, Charles Cyphert of Duck Lake, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs Betty Doutt of Corry, Pa., and Mrs. Carolyn Fox of Slippenville, Pa.; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Burial was in the Byron Cemetery.

Funeral services were held Monday for Joanna Wright Johnson, 88, in the Byron Ward chapel under the direction of Bishop Clifford Powelson with Frank Griffin conducting.
The opening song, "One Sweet Solemn Thought," was by the singing mothers with Mrs. Louis Wolz directing and Mrs. J. Leslie Rollines as organist. Alvin Sessions offered the opening prayer and the obituary was by Mrs. Harry Leslie. "In the Garden" was sung by Mrs. D.R. Peterson of Cowley and Mrs. J.W. Christoffersen. Maurice Jensen delivered the sermon and Frank Griffin made a few remarks. The closing song, "Beside Still Waters," was by the Singing Mothers and Harry Leslie offered the benediction.
Pall bearers were Max and Wilford Jones of Lovell, Bill and Charlie Shumway of Powell and Angus Vail and Keith Neville of Byron.
Interment was in the Byron cemetery under the direction of Haskell Funeral Home. David F. Jones decicated the grave.
Mrs. Joanna Johnson died Saturday in the War Memorial Hospital in Powell after a four month illness. She was born Nov. 26, 1878 in Alabama, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Holliday.
Apr. 27, 1903, Joanna, three sisters and one brother moved to Wyoming. They arrived in Byron May 2 and lived with their brother Dan who had been here for some time.
She married Charles Wright on Nov. 22, 1904, and to this union, two sons, Thomas and Charles were born. Mr. Wright passed away in 1908. She was married to Benjamin Farland Johnson Sr. Jan. 30, 1937 at Cody. He died in 1963.
She is survived by one son, John T. Wright of Portland, Ore.; her sister, Mrs. Alice Lawler of Lovell and Della Moore of Gattman, Miss.; a grandson, Craig Wright, and one granddaughter, Dana Sophia Wright.

Bobby Roy Freeman, 51, died Monday, Oct. 18, 1993, of lung cancer in Tucson, Ariz. at the home of his daughter, Nicole Dorsey. He had recently moved to Tucson from Cody, Wyo., to be near his 3-year-old grand-daughter, Ryann Dorsey, with whom he shared a wonderful relationship.
Mr. Freeman was born June 9, 1942, in Buffalo, Wyo, to Sylvia Ann Carr and Wilbur Wilis (Willie) Freeman.
He moved with his parents and brother, Bill, to Byron at an early age. The family lived on the Ohio Oil Farm east of Byron and this is where he grew up. He attended all 12 years of schooling in Byron, graduating from Byron High School in 1959.
He then attended Casper College for two years. He graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1964 with a bachelor of science degree in educaiton, majoring in English.
He was taught in Lyman, Wyo., Visalia, Calif., St. Maries, Idaho, and Billings, Mont. He finished his teaching career with 13 years in the Cody Junior High and one year at Cody High School.
Mr. Freeman married Nicola Ann Neville on Nov. 27, 1963, in the LDS Chapel in Byron. They had a daughter, Nicole Evelyn, and a son, Todd Carr Neville Freeman, in their family home. Nicola died in 1979 and Bob did a remarkable job of being both father and mother to Nicole and Todd, providing them with living care and maintaining a lovely home for them.
He is survived by his mother, Sylvia in the New Horizons Care Center in Lovell; a brother, Dale in Worland; one sister-in-law, Sharon Polk of Byron; one daughter, Nicole of Tuscon; one son, Todd of Cody; one grandchild; and many friends. His brother, Bill, and his father, Wilbur, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 23, 1993, in the Byron LDS Chapel. Interment will be in the Byron cemetery where he will be laid to rest beside his wife.

Golden Edward Cozzens was born February 11, 1915, in Byron, the eighth of nine children born to John William and Ellen Blanche Kimball Cozzens. Golden's father died of typhoid fever when he was less than two years old and after his father's death, his mother homesteaded near Cowley. The family lived in a tent until a log house was brought in from another farm.
When Golden was 12 years old, he quit school (along with his younger brother Ivan) to tend the family farm. Golden had a great desire to make his mother's life easier and worked very had to accomplish this goal. He lived on the original farm his family homesteaded until 1991.
Golden became acquainted with Wilma Louise Lynn in 1929 and they saw each other occsionally for the next two years. Golden and Wilma were married on December 26, 1931, in Billings, Mont. They were both too young to legally marry, so they told the magistrate that Golden was 21 and Wilma was 20. After their marrige, they lived on the family farm near Cowley.
Golden and Wilma became the parents of five boys, Richard, Don, Edwin, Steven and Wayne. Wayne died of leukmia in 1957. All the sons were born in Lovell.
Golden was always a good provider. He farmed, road ditch, and worked on the Japanese prison camp when it was built at Heart Mountain during the war. He worked road construction, in the oil fields, as a carpenter, did custom hay baling and grain combining and worked at the sugar factory. In addition, he was involved in the metals recycling business (scrap iron) part time for several years. This was almost a hobby for him. Golden worked hard all of his life.
Wilma died January 22, 1987. Golden tenderly took care of her for the last years of her life, as she suffered with cancer. They were married for 55 years and he never got over being lonely for her.
In 1991, due to health problems, Golden moved to Utah. He resided at Cove Point Retirement Center in Provo for eight years and enjoyed the association of many friends and acquaintances. In May, 2000, he moved to Orchard Park Care Center in Orem.
Golden died November 14, 2000, in Orem, Utah. He is survived by four sons, Richard (MaryJane) of Moab, Utah, Don (Helen) of Drapr, Utah, Edwin (Janice) of Springville, Utah, and Steven (Linda) of Billings. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren.
Services were held in Springville, Utah, on November 16. a graveside service was held at Byron Cemetery on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, at 2 p.m.Taken from the Lovell Chronicle, 23 Nov 2000, page 2.

Wilma Lynn Cozzens, 71, longtime Cowley resident, died Thursday, January 22, 1987 in the Powell Hospital after a long illness.
Mrs. Cozzens was born November 13, 1915 in Lovell, daughter of William H. and Fanny L. Stratton Lynn. She grew up in Lovell and attended the Lovell schools. She married Golden E. Cozzens December 26, 1931 in Billings, Mont. They made their home in Cowley after their marriage.
Mrs. Cozzens was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was active in the Relief Society organization. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, quilting and crafts. She was devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of Cowley; four sons, Richard O. Cozzens of Moab, Utah, Golden Don Cozzens of Draper, Utah, Edwin Cozzens of Orem, Utah and Steven B. Cozzens of Billings, Mont.; one sister, Ireta Lynn Musgrave of Hyattville, Wyo.; 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, one son, Wayne Lynn Cozzens; three brothers, Cleo Stratton Lynn, Lester William Lynn and Lamar Oliver Lynn; and two sisters Weltha M. Lynn and Veda Fannie Lynn.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 26, 1987 in the Cowley LDS Chapel with Bishop Shane Roberts officiating. Burial was in the Byron Cemetery. Haskell Funeral Home of Lovell was in charge of arrangements.

Harold I. Hopkinson, former LDS Stake President of the Lovell Wyoming Stake and superintendent in the Byron schools, died Dec. 18, 2000.
Harold was born in Salt Lake City,Utah, Aug. 8, 1918, to Ernest I. and Susan (Smetherst) Hopkinson. Harold was raised on a ranch at Fort Bridger Wyo. Harold served in the Navy during World War II on the Battleship South Dakota. He moved his family to Byron in 1952 to serve as Superintendent of Schools until 1963. He also taught art, speech and drama.
Harold resigned in 1972 to paint full time. His paintings of cowboys, Indians and pioneers decorate homes and museums throughout the nation and abroad.
His paintings are also included in the Billings, St. George, Mesa and Idaho Falls Temples. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served in many capacities including bishop of the Byron Ward and Stake President.
Harold married Vivian Hamblin in November of 1939 in the Salt Lake Temple.
In 1989 Harold and Vivian were called on a mission to Mesa, Ariz., where they served on the Fort McDowell Indian Reservation and areas throughtout the Tempe Mission. Harold and Vivian moved ot Mesa, Ariz., in 1996. He was preceded in death by his beloved Vivian, Dec 2, 1999.
Harold is survived by his brother, Arthur; his sister, Phyllis; his four children, Judy, Richard, Glen and Cindy; 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Harold had a great influence on all of those who associated with him and left a legacy of beauty for all to enjoy in his wonderful paintings.
Funeral services are set for Friday, Dec.22, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the Byron LDS Chapel.
A visitition will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Byron LDS Relief Society Room.
Burial will be in the Byron Cemetery.

Vivian Hamblin Hopkinson, 81, longtime Byron resident, slipped away quietly December 2, 1999, at her son's home in Mesa, Arizona.
She was born on April 3, 1918, to Edwin Rollins and Cora Roberts Hamblin in a small three-room house in Milburn, Wyo. Vivian was the middle child of seven, Ted, Myrtle, Jack, Vivian, Spencer, Louis and Darwin. Vivian lived a cherished ranch life with horses she loved and lots of hard work with her brothers.
She married Harold I. Hopkinson in Salt Lake Temple on November 8, 1939. They made their home in Salt Lake where Harold attended the LDS Business College and Vivian worked to support their growing family. When World War II commenced the entire world joined in. Harold was darfted and served in the Navy.
Vivian, with her two small children, moved back to her dad's ranch to help him run it, since most of her brothers were also serving in the war. After a long three-year separation, the war was finally over and their small family was reunited. They then moved to Laramie whre Harold attended college pursuing his degree. Vivian worked to support him and soon another baby joined their family.
Harold and Vivian moved to various parts of the state of Wyoming as Harold's career took him finally to Byron to be the superintendent of schools there. They made their home in Byron and were blessed with one more baby.
Vivian was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints. She served in every auxiliary in both stake and ward callings. She served as Relief Society president of the Byron Ward and she supported Harold in his church callings as well. Harold and Vivian served a mission in Mesa, Ariz. for the church from 1988-90.
Mrs. Hopkinson was the "push" in the family as she encuraged Harold in his art and finally to pursue it full time. She also encouraged her chldren to pursue their dreams.
Vivian had many talents; she designed and sewed many beautiful dresses for her daughters. She was also a avid quilter and has won ribbons for her quilts. Vivian was not afraid of hard work and she loved to laugh, she loved a good book. She lived a life without guile and a love for her fellow man. She had a great memory for names and faces and she could talk to anyone and make them feel special. We will miss her cheerful heart and her ready smile.
Mrs. Hopkinson is survived by her husband, Harold; her sister, Myrtle; her brother, Darwin; her children and spouses, Judith Gail and Jim Dalton of El Monte, Calif., Harold Richard and Sharon Hopkinson of Worland, Glen Spencer and Pam Hopkinson of Mesa, Ariz., and Cynthia Susan and Brad Welch of Las Vegas, Nev. She is the grandmother of 18 and the great-grandmother of 8 1/2.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and her baby, David L.
Services will be on Friday, December 10 1999, at 10 a.m. in the Byron LDS Chapel. Interment will be at the Byorn Cemetery following the services.

Herbert Clifton (Clif) Asay, 70 died Sunday morning Sept. 22, 1985, at his home in Byron of an apparent heart attack. He was born July 5, 1915, in Shepherd, Mont., the son of William Elton and Sarepta Asay.
He spent most of his life in Lovell moving to Byron 27 years ago. He married Florence Richeson on July 16, 1940, in Logan, Utah. He worked for the Wyoming Highway Department as a highway maintenance man for 25 years.
He loved gardening and working with cattle, and enjoyed associating with children and youth. He was actively engaged in church work for the L.D.S. church and held the office of a High Priest in his ward.
Survivors include his wife of Byron; four sons, Donald Clifton of North Glen, Colo., Thomas Herbert of Monterey, Cal., Stephen Richeson of Mission Viejo, Cal., Melvin Jospeh of Hardin, Mont.; five daughters Kathleen Bartlett of Clinton, Mont., Julie Asay of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Elna Shoji of Antioch, Cal., Adell Woolf of Garden Grove, Cal., andSsusan Mathis of Kearns, Utah; a brother, Lawrence K. of Winnemuca, Nev.; two sisters, Delma Hinton of Cody, and LaWana Morris of Konawa, Okla., and 28 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, David Richeson Asay.

Florence Richeson Asay died peacefully Monday evening, July 9, 2001. She was residing at Lily House Assisted Living in Idaho Falls, Idaho; having moved from Julie and Lynn Collings' home in late January 2001.
In 1999 she moved to Idaho Falls so Julie could assist with medical meeds. In 1994 Florence left her beloved Big Horn Basin, moving next door to daughter Kathleen and Henry Bartlett. She quickly loved the good people of the Drummond Branch of the LDS Church and her neighbors up the beautiful Rock Creek.
Florence was born April 26, 1916, in Logan, Utah, to Travy Green and Eva Ballard Richeson She graduated from Moore Idaho High School in 1935 and from the LDS School of Nursing in Idaho Falls in 1938 with an RN degree. "Richie," as she was known in nurses training, and her classmate Elsie Rigby moved to Lovell, Wyo., to work for Dr. Edward Croft in his hospital. Florence met and later married Herbert Clifton (Clif) Asay on July 16, 1940, in the Logan, Utah Temple.
Richie or "Asay" as she became known in Byron, worked in hospitals and school nursing either full or part time (in later years) until retiring at age 65. She always willingly responed to a friend or neighbor who called upon her skills for emergency response, home care services or special duty nursing in a hospital She assisted many in the Big Horn Basin area at times of birth, death, illnesses or injury.
Florence enjoyed her self taught skills of sewing, knitting, crocheting, embroidering, quilting, cooking and canning. Many of their friends and family have been gifted with her haindiwork. After her retirement, she and Clif enjoyed their extended trips to do temple work in Idaho Falls and short visits with their children/grandchildren until his death September 22, 1985.
Florence was preceded in death by Clif; their son, David Richeson; three grandhcildren; her parents; sisters, Pearl Beck and Phoebe Jensen; brother, Melvin T.; half-brothers, Bobby, Eugene and Leland; and daughter -in-law Elnie.
She is survived by one half-brother, Roy Richeson (Dorothy) of Salt Lake City, Utah; nine children, Donald Clifton (Marilyn); Kathleen (Henry E.) Bartlett of Rock Creek, Mont.; Julie (Lynn H.) Collings of Idaho Falls; Thomas Herbert; Stephen Richeson (Christy) of Mission Viejo, Calif., Elna (Ken) Miller of Concord, Calif.; Melvin Joseph (Jeana) of Twin Falls, Idaho, Adell (Ronald K.) Woolf of Garden Grove, Calif., and Susan (J. Harvey) Mathis of Taylorsville, Utah; 33 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchldren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 20, 2001 at 4 p.m. in the Byron LDS Ward Chapel, with visitation one hour prior to services and on Thursday, July 19, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell.

George Allen May died Saturday, Jan. 4, 1997 at the New Horizons Care Center, just 14 days short of his 94th birthday.
He was born Jan. 18, 1903 in Rockland, Idaho, the last in a family of 13 children, to Jude Allen and Rosalia Elvira Perry May.
His family came to the Big Horn Basin area in 1906, travelling by covered wagon through Yellowstone Park in October, and made their home in Lovell where he grew up and attended school.
On November 5, 1924, he was married to Stella Liona Robison of Byron. To this union was born three children, Bernice, Richard Allen and Lucy Elvira. Their marriage was solemnized, and the family was sealed in the Logan LDS Temple in September of 1936.
Farming and ranching was his main occupation. He had a great love for animals of all kinds, large and small, domesticated and wild. That love was returned in full measure.
He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his grandsons and great-grandsons recall his expressing, "It is no shame for a man to cry!"
He enjoyed hunting and fishing. His favorite fishing companions in his later years were Mac McCaffrey, Hy Blackburn, Judge Anderson and Royal Bischoff.
He was an avid gardener and continued working at the sugar factory and as a ditch rider until he was in his late 70s, after which he stayed busy with his garden.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and five sisters; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter and his daughter, Lucy Elvira Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Stella, of New Horizons Care Center; his son Richard and June May of Billings; daughter Bernice and Albert Rusch of McCook, Neb.; 14 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, Jan. 8, 1997 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Byron and burial was in the Byron Cemetery with the Haskell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Stella Liona Robison May was born March 2 1906, and died July 31, 2001, at her home in New Horizons Care Center in Lovell.
Her parents were Joseph Ray and Lucy Johnson Robison. Stella was the second of four daughters. Her sisters are Dovetta (Irvin) Asay, Della (Chuck) Negro and Mamie (Ernie) Martin. They later welcomed four brothers: Joe (Ruth), Solon (Marjorie), Melvin (Marge), and Louis "Billie" (Carolyn). One sister died in infancy.
Some time after her mothers's death, Stella's father married Hazel Barnes. Their children were Elmer, Charles "Chuck" (Linda), Bob, Mary (Jerry) Harmon and Dale (Nancy).
Stella met George Allen May in 1920, and they married November 5, 1924, in Lovell. They were later sealed in the Logan Utah LDS Temple September 14, 1936.
Stella and Allen had three children: Bernice (Al) Rusch, Richard Allen (June), and Lucy Elvira Johnson, who preceded them in death.
Descendants include 17 grandchildren: Bobby Joe (Marcie) Cook, Jim (Nora Lee) Cook, Peggy (Bill) Tremelling, Lanny (Debbie) Cook, Phyllis (Dick) Hoopes, David (Roselyn) May, Marlene (Sam) Adkinson, Jonathon (Vickie Lynn) May, George (Jackie) Johnson, Perry (Gloria) Johnson, Loralee (Lynn) Mosely, Dwight Johnson, John Allen (Dreia) Van Grinsven, and Joseph (Alisa) Van Grinsven; 30 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Allen, after 72 years of marriage; sisters, Dovetta and Della; brothers, Billie, Melvin, Elmer and Bob; grandchildren, Hyrum Allen Cook May Jr., Lisa Jo Cook Winter and great-grandchild, Kyle Johnson.
She was a very grand lady.
Fureral services were held Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at the Byron LDS Chapel with burial following in the Byron Cemetery.
Haskell Funeral Home of Lovell had charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Ernest Richard Jensen of Byron were held Monday, May 6, 1996, in the Byron LDS Chapel. Burial in the Byron Cemetery followed the services. Haskell Funeral Home of Lovell was in charge of arrangments.
Mr. Jensen, 81, died early Thursday, May 2, 1996 at his home in Byron after an extended illness. He was born Dec. 28, 1914, in Byron, Wyo., the son of John and Eva Johnson Jensen. He grew up in Byron and attended the Byron schools. On September 25, 1940, he married Evelyn Sylvia Carmen in the Salt lake City LDS Temple. They made their home in Byron where Mr. Jensen owned and operated the Byron Gas Co. for many years.
He was a wonderful father, husband and friend to many. He served a mission for the LDS Church in the French Mission as a young man, where he met his eternal sweetheart, whom he later married. He and his wife served together in the Arizona, Holbrook, the Haiti and the California, Sacramento missions. He also served as a bishop, high councilman, stake Sunday School president, and a teacher in many church organizations. He also served as a guide at the Cody Chapel of the LDS Church.
He served as a school board member for the Byron School District, on the North Big Horn Hospital Board and on the Byron Town Council.
Every summer he raised a weed-free garden which he freely shared with everyone.
His smile, love and friendship will be missed by his family and friends but Dad's example will remain forever. We love you, Dad.
Survivors include his wife of Byron; five sons and their wives, James Richard (Janet) Jensen of Salt Lake City, Utah, John Jay (Louise) Jensen of Phoenix, Ariz., Ralph Carmen (Ruth) Jensen of Rowlett, Texas, Jed Ernest (Joyce) Jensen of Gillette, Wyo., and Nathan Robert (Kaye) Jensen of Corona, Calif.; three daughters and their husbands, Carma (John) Anderson of Bountiful, Utah, Janina (Gary) Webster of Saratoga, Calif., and Jalene (Dennis) Muller of West Jordan, Utah; one brother Howard B. Jensen of Salt Lake City, Utah; a sister Mary Norman of Salt Lake City, Utah; 33 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was 87. She was born Feb. 16, 1915, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the oldest daughter and second child of John Willie and Amelia Cherrington Carmen. Early childhood photographs show her a willing participant in a pickup baseball game or strolling through the neighborhood admiring flowers and landscapes. She lived in the Sugar House area and was determined to finish high school at West High School despite the distance from her home. She worked for American Telephone and Telegraph prior to serving a mission to Europe in the late 1930s. During her service abroad, her father, John, died. She fell in love with the European mission and would often recite stories to her children of France, Belgium and especially Switzerland. It was during her mission experience she met and later married Ernest Richard Jensen of Byron. They lived more than 60 years in Byron and had eight children. She was known for her ongoing efforts to quilt a bed covering for each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and could make jelly from anything. She provided a peaceful home and was diligent in understanding the scriptures and the words of the prophets. She was actively involved in the LDS Church all her life, holding callings in the Relief Society, Primary, Young Women's Program, Scouting and was an early morning Seminary instructor. Survivors include her eight children, Carma Anderson and husband John of Bountiful, Utah, James Jensen and wife Janet of West Valley City, Utah, John J. Jensen and wife Louise of Glendale, Ariz., Jan Webster and husband Gary of Grand Terrace, Calif., Jolene Muller and husband Dennis of West Jordan, Utah, Ralph Carmen Jensen of Dallas, Texas, Jed Jensen and wife Joyce of Gillette and Nathan Jensen and wife Kaye of Atascadero, Calif.; and her sister, Beverly Spencer of Torrance, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest; and two brothers, Dr. John Carmen of Cheyenne and Bertrum G. Carmen, Salt Lake City. Loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Marion Moroni Bassett died peacefully Tuesday, March 11, 2003.
He is survived by his chldren, John and Jill Bassett of Lovell, Diane and Dale Moss of Harrisonville, Utah, Mary and Robin Marble of Riverdale, Utah, and Cathy and Angel Rodriguez of Eaton, N.J. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; and one granddaughter, and was the last of 14 children to pass on to his waiting loved ones.
Mr. Bassett was born in Osmond, Wyo., to Milo and Camella Rasmussen Bassett on March 13, 1920, and was raised in Afton. He married Barbara N. Eberly in Neptune, N.J., on April 21, 1946. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and their marriage was soleminized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1951.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at Leavitt's Mortuary, Ogden, Utah.
A graveside service was held Wednesday, March 19, 2003 in the Byron Cemetery.

Barbara N. Eberly Bassett, 78, died May 27, 2001, in Filer, Idaho.
She had Alzheimer's the last few years and was living in a living care center in Filer the last few months.
She was born December 8, 1923, to Oliver and Mary (Flock) Eberly, in Neptune City, N.J. She was the youngest child and only daughter. She had two brothers, Charles and Harold. Her father died when she was 11 years old. She grew up in Neptune City, N.J., enjoying the beaches and boardwalks. She graduated from Asbury Park High School. She was working for the telephone company when she met her husband, Marion Bassett. Marion was stationed at Fort Monmouth, N.J., waiting to be discharged from the Army Air Force.
They were married Easter Sunday, April 21, 1946. She later joined the LDS Church. Marion and Barbara were sealed in the Salt LakeTemple September 21, 1951, for time and eternity, also sealing their son and daughter to them at the time.
She held many jobs in the LDS Church. She was ward and stake librarian, secretary in different organizations, and genealogy librarian. she was always searching out her family history.
She enjoyed working. She was a teletypist for Sears and secretary to many other companies. Barbara volunteered to work in the New Horizons Care Center gift shop every Wednesday morning. She did that for a few years.
After they were married, Marion took Barbara to Afton where he was born and raised. They lived there for six months. They then returned to New Jersey where they made their first home.
Marion and Barbara had four children. They left New Jersey to live in Utah and then moved on to California for many years. She was happy to return to New Jersey in 1969. They lived there a few years then moved to Texas and to Wyoming. Barbara and Marion lived in the Lovell, Byron area for 16 years.
Her father, mother, brother and a granddaughter preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Marion; son, John and (Jill) Bassett of Lovell; daughter, Diane and (Dale) Moss of Harrisville, Utah, Mary and (Robin) Marble of Riverdale, Utah, Cathy and (Angel) Rodriguez of Eatontown, N.J.; a brother Charles Eberly of New Jersey; best friend and sister-in-law, Helen Eberly of Neptune City, 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday, May 31 2001, at 2 p.m. in the Lovell LDS Stake Center. Burial in the Byron Cemetery in following the funeral service.
Haskell Funeral Hume of Lovell is in charge of arrangements.
