He was six feet tall with dark brown eyes, black hair and a moustache. Mother had brown eyes and brown hair and was five feet two inches tall and weighed 95 pounds. They married March 23rd 1887 in Assaria, Saline, Kansas. After his marriage Frank rented a farm and they set up housekeeping, they farmed in Kansas for 15 years
They had listened to the message of the gospel in Kansas and had known it to be true. They wanted to join with the body of the saints and although they knew no one they decided to move to the Big Horn Basin because it was the last LDS colony that was opened up to homesteaders. That provided land that was cheap. They loaded up their family of four children and moved here to Byron in April 1902 and found snow on the ground with nothing more done toward getting the ground ready for planting than had been done in February, when Frank and visited the area. They were very disappointed. Father started work helping on the Sidon Canal.
They had 8 children 5 born in Kansas and 3 in Wyoming. They built a small house that was located very near to the place where Wally built his home. Farming was what most people who came here did and so Frank as he was called began farming.
When they came to Byron they came with high hopes to join the body of the saints. However, there were times ahead that tried their faith as several members of the LDS community had such little regard for their fellow men and their obligation to them. He arranged to buy a piece of farming equipment on shares with someone in the community. It equipment was taken before Frank could use it and when it was returned it was broken. This problem was a real challenge for the newly baptized members. Soon after this Frank died of the effects of typhoid fever during an epidemic. He died 15 October 1905 in Byron, Wyoming. He had gone to the cemetery with Luke Cozzens to bury Luke's dad, while there both Frank and Luke died.

"It was during this time a Typhoid epidemic broke out. So many died. Brother Cozzens died Sunday night. Tuesday he was buried. Brother Wirth and Luke Cozzens, his son died while they were at the cemetary burying Brother Cozzens. Those were sad days. Nearly every family had some that were sick."

Obituary Given For George E. Wirth
George E. Wirth was born Oct. 20, 1893 in Guelph, Kan. His parents, Francis X. and Nellie Sargent Wirth moved to Blackwell, Okla., shortly afterward, and then returned to Kansas and farmed near Asaria. They joined the Mormon Church in May 1899, and came to the Big Horn basin in 1902, making Byron their permanent residence. George was 8 years old at that time.
The father died of typhoid in 1905, leaving six children to the care of his widow, Automella, more generally known as Nellie. She kept her family together, provided them with a home and gave them the schooling the community afforded. Her courage, independence and resourcefulness carried her forward until her home responsibilities were completed and her childen were all raised and trained in her philosophy of life.
George took well to heart his mother's training and though modest and unassuming, won the deepest respect and love of his neighbors and friends who accepted him as one of their own family.
George joined the American Expeditionary Forces for service in France and because of his skill in handling horses was placed with the veterinary hospital corps and at times cared for the wounded artillery horses brought back from the front. He was in the army for the spring of 1918 to the summer of 1919. Although he was in uniform but a short time, his inherent loyalty made him ever a soldier to his home, his job and his country.
Most of his employment was in the oil fields, for the few years with the Ohio Oil company.
November 17, 1919 he was married to Martha Williams, six children being born to them, all of whom are living.
In addition to his wife and children he is survived by a brother, Francis W., and three sisters, Mrs. Mable Brown, Mrs. Erma Jensen and Miss Mina Wirth, all of Byron and also a brother Jarmes R. of Los Angeles and a sister Mrs. Annie R. Scholz of Thermopolis.
Funeral services were held in the L.D.S. church at Byron on Friday, July 7th, Bishop M. LeSueur conducted the services and John Jensen gave the obituary and Bishop F. H. Brown the sermon. Music was furnished by Nadine Egan, Eugene and Afton Jones, Walter and Grace Stevens and Fannie Wolz. The V.F.W. directed the funeral cortege.
